I’ve barely made it out on my own and it almost goes wrong. What can I say, it’s me. I’d be surprised if something didn’t put me in a difficult situation. Anyway, I get to the ferry and head for the cash machine. I try one card, then another, then another. Not one worked. So, I ask information. By this point it’s 1030. I’m supposedly meant to check in by eleven. The information desk suggests the Emart which is about five to ten mins away. I guess I’ll have to go though. Need money for the toll otherwise can’t leave.

I run, yes run, with my massive backpack. Get there and there are 3 different types of cash machine. One of them should work right? Wrong. None of them took any of my cards. I go to the help desk in the store. Manage to explain a little about the issue I was having. However, something was lost in translation because I thought she said I could get cash from the counter. Don’t think this was the case as there was a lot of confusion and sorry looks.

I had an idea that maybe I could pay for someones items and get them to pay me. The lady asked to be shown at the cash machine what was happening with my cards before I got to this. Go back to the machine. Still not working. She takes me to the returns desk. Says something to the other lady. Then turns to me and says “ cancel” Success(exclamation mark – the button doesn’t work( The nice staff at Emart have put a cancellation through of an item I haven’t bought so I can get the cash I need. I’m not sure if I have spent or gained or neither. Glad I have the money.

Rush back to the terminal and it’s 1110. They are still taking check ins. No need to worry. The queue to wait to go through is immense though. England is quite polite I realise as most people here don’t mind if they bump in to you or the other way around. And everyone will try to get there first.

I finally get to my cabin. It’s alright and I’m sharing with a Mongolian girl called Maxnan, I think, and a mother and 5 year old boy. I am very much the ethnic minority on this boat. It’s not hard to miss me at the best of times, at least people will notice if I go overboard heh.
